Silicone is essentially a synthetic rubber, not a plastic, even though the two share some surface similarities. We use it for its durability, nonstick and stain-resistant properties, and hard-wearing nature &#x2014; it also cools quickly and tolerates temperature extremes, and its long usable life reduces the need for single-use plastics.A quick note on certifications: we only make a certification or premium-grade claim (like LFGB, FDA, or platinum-cured) when it&apos;s actually been confirmed for that specific product &#x2014; you&apos;ll see it stated on the product&apos;s own listing. If a listing doesn&apos;t mention a particular certification, it&apos;s best to check with us directly rather than assume either way, since it just means that one hasn&apos;t been verified for that item yet, not that it&apos;s automatically included or excluded.Many of our silicone products and components are LFGB and FDA certified, and comply with Australian Standard AS2070:1999 &#x2014; check the specific product&apos;s listing to confirm this for the item you&apos;re after.Not all silicone is graded the same way, either &#x2014; much like there are different grades of plastic, silicone itself varies in purity and curing method. Platinum-cured silicone is a premium grade, valued for its durability, heat and wear resistance, and reduced tendency to retain odours compared to other curing methods. We can confirm our <a href="https://seedsprout.com.au/products/ultimate-freezer-mould-set" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Silicone Freezer Trays/Moulds</a> and <a href="https://seedsprout.com.au/products/reusable-stretch-lids" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Reusable Stretch Lids</a> are made from platinum-cured silicone. We&apos;re currently reviewing the rest of our silicone range individually, and we&apos;ll only make this claim once it&apos;s genuinely verified for each product.Have Seed &amp; Sprout silicone items that can no longer be used?To help you recycle our silicone products, we&apos;ve launched our Silicone Take-Back Program in partnership with TerraCycle, for when reusing isn&apos;t an option.&#xA0;<a href="https://seedsprout.com.au/pages/silicone-take-back-program" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" style=" text-decoration: none;">You can read about our silicone take-back program here</a>Please note that as of this time, we are only able to recycle our products as we cannot verify the composition of other brand&apos;s products. Since they are made differently, the facility that we&apos;re using may not be able to recycle other products properly.

You may notice a $2 fuel surcharge added to our Standard and Express Shipping charges from October 1.We want to explain why this has been introduced and how long it will be in place.<h2 data-section-id="1jqls1k" dir="auto" data-start="402" data-end="420" id="whats-changed">What&#x2019;s changed?</h2>Our delivery partners, Australia Post and Aramex, have introduced a temporary fuel surcharge on shipping costs due to rising fuel prices.You can read more from them here:<a target="_blank" rel="noopener" href="https://auspost.com.au/business/shipping/postage-costs/fuel-surcharge?utm_source=chatgpt.com">Australia Post Fuel Surcharge</a> <a target="_blank" rel="noopener" href="https://www.aramex.com.au/terms-and-conditions/fuel-surcharge/?utm_source=chatgpt.com">Aramex Australia Fuel Surcharge</a>This surcharge applies to businesses using their services during this period.Like most Australian e-commerce businesses, we rely on Australia Post and Aramex to deliver your orders. When their costs increase, those increases flow through to us. Given the volume we ship and the size of our business, absorbing the full additional cost across all orders isn&apos;t something we&apos;re able to do.<h2 data-section-id="1terlbh" dir="auto" data-start="1069" data-end="1090" id="why-weve-added-2">Why we&#x2019;ve added $2</h2>We have absorbed increases in shipping costs in the past. However, this temporary surcharge has created a meaningful increase in delivery costs across all orders.To help cover part of this increase, we have introduced a flat $2 increase to our Standard and Express Shipping rates.We&#x2019;ve chosen a flat $2 increase to keep things simple and consistent, rather than adjusting shipping costs based on location or order size. We are still absorbing a portion of the increase ourselves.Rather than quietly building the cost into our product prices or adding it as a separate handling fee, we&#x2019;ve chosen to be transparent. The $2 increase has been added to all Standard and Express Shipping charges and is shown in the cart.<h2 data-section-id="fni50j" dir="auto" data-start="1819" data-end="1853" id="how-long-will-this-be-in-place">How long will this be in place?</h2>This is a temporary measure.As soon as Australia Post and Aramex remove their fuel surcharge, we will remove ours.We&#x2019;re monitoring this closely and will revert the shipping rates as soon as possible.<h2 data-section-id="vfijcl" dir="auto" data-start="2064" data-end="2106" id="what-about-the-free-shipping-threshold">What about the Free Shipping Threshold?</h2>As usual, orders over $199 will be eligible for Free Shipping, as long as they don&apos;t contain glassware.We charge a shipping fee for glassware on all orders due to its weight and size.<h2 data-section-id="1wh5tq" dir="auto" data-start="2299" data-end="2311" id="thank-you">Thank you</h2>We understand that additional costs are never ideal. We&#x2019;ve kept this increase as low as possible and applied it consistently across all orders.We know extra charges can be frustrating, especially when budgets are already stretched.
