Being Honest With You: An Update on Our Orangutan Alliance CertificationUpdated 5 hours ago

At Seed & Sprout, transparency isn't just a value we talk about — it's how we try to operate, even when the news is complicated. So today we want to share something openly with our community.

You may have noticed the Orangutan Alliance "Certified Palm Oil Free" logo on our bar packaging. We've been proud to carry that certification for years — it represented a rigorous process to verify that our entire Bar range contains zero palm oil, a commitment we stand behind wholeheartedly.

What's happened

We recently discovered that Orangutan Alliance, the organisation that administered our palm oil free certification, has ceased trading. Unfortunately, we weren't notified of this closure — we found out ourselves, and we want to make sure you hear it directly from us.

This doesn't change the formulation of our products. Our bars remain 100% palm oil free. That has always been a non-negotiable for us, and it continues to be.

What this means for your current products

If you have bars at home — or if you purchase from us in the near term — you may still see the Orangutan Alliance logo on the packaging. We want to be upfront: the certifying body behind that logo no longer exists.

We've made the deliberate choice not to discard existing packaging. Wasting perfectly good materials goes against everything we believe in as a sustainable business. So we'll continue to sell through current stock as-is, with full transparency that the certification body is no longer operating.

What we're doing next

We're actively researching alternative palm oil free certification partners so we can continue to give you the independent, third-party verification you deserve. As soon as we have a new certification pathway confirmed, we'll update our packaging accordingly and let you know.

In the meantime, our commitment to being palm oil free is unchanged. Our bars are Australian made, vegan, cruelty free, plastic free — and palm oil free. That's not going anywhere.

Thank you for trusting us, and for giving us the space to be honest with you when things don't go to plan.
