Chopping Boards — Everything You Need to KnowUpdated 2 hours ago

Our chopping board range includes two distinct materials — Wood Fibre and Titanium — with genuinely different construction, care needs, and characteristics. Where something below applies to only one, it's named explicitly.

Materials & construction

Wood Fibre Chopping Boards are made from 80% compressed pine wood and 20% food-grade resin, and are FSC certified. The resin isn't 100% plastic-free — it's technically a type of plastic — but it's a real upgrade on a fully polyethylene or polypropylene board. Minimising plastic contact where we can is the best any of us can do. All Wood Fibre boards are dyed using a food-grade dye that's 100% safe; this colour range is specific to Wood Fibre — Titanium boards don't have dyed colour variants.

Titanium Chopping Boards are designed to be durable and long-lasting. It's natural for them to develop light scratches or marks over time with regular use — this is a normal part of any chopping board's life, not a fault, and simply shows the board is doing its job.

Care & use

Wood Fibre boards are 100% dishwasher safe, and at only 6mm thick, don't take up much space. They require zero maintenance, so you can focus on the cooking rather than the upkeep. They're also safe to use as a trivet or pad under hot pots, pans, or trays.

Their non-porous surface makes them a genuinely hygienic option for preparing meats like chicken, resisting moisture and bacteria build-up and reducing cross-contamination risk. Good food hygiene practice still applies — wash the board and utensils thoroughly after raw meat or chicken — and using a separate board for raw meats isn't strictly necessary given the board's hygienic properties, though some customers prefer to for extra peace of mind.

Titanium boards need a slightly different routine. Give it a wash before first use, and from then on, hand washing is recommended, though it's dishwasher safe too. Acidic foods need a little extra care — rinse the board promptly after contact, and don't let acidic juice sit on the surface for more than about 10 minutes. Dry it fully before storing.

Grip and stability

Whether a board feels slippery depends more on the surface it's resting on than the board itself — we haven't had much feedback about this being an issue, but a Hemp Tea Towel or a damp kitchen towel underneath works well if you'd like extra grip.

For Wood Fibre boards specifically, our Anti Slip Chopping Board Corners are a purpose-built accessory: durable, easy-clean silicone that fits snugly onto the board to reduce movement during food prep. These are not compatible with Titanium Chopping Boards.
