Glass Food Containers and Pantry Jars — Everything You Need to KnowUpdated 44 minutes ago
Our glass range spans everyday Food Containers and three Pantry Jar lines — Wategos (round), Tallow (rectangle), and Newrybar (square). All three are made from borosilicate glass with LFGB-certified silicone seals, leak-resistant, and stackable — the differences between them come down to capacity and shape, not material or quality.
For general use, temperature limits, and cleaning guidance, see our Glassware Care Guide. A few specifics worth knowing that aren't covered there:
Freezer use
Glass Food Containers are freezer safe, with a few precautions to protect them long-term: leave space when freezing liquids, since they expand as they freeze and can crack a container packed too full; never freeze food while it's still hot, as the sudden temperature change can crack or shatter the glass; handle gently, since borosilicate is durable but still glass; and thaw slowly in the fridge rather than at room temperature, to avoid stressing the glass with a sudden change.
The Pantry Jars (Wategos, Tallow, and Newrybar) are not freezer safe.
Airtightness
While the Wategos, Tallow, and Newrybar jars all create a great seal, we can't guarantee they stay completely airtight over a long period of time. They're best suited to dry goods — pasta, cereal, flour, grains — rather than liquids or anything needing a guaranteed long-term seal.
Staining, stacking, and air fryer use
Foods that naturally stain — turmeric, pasta sauce, beetroot, and similar — can leave marks on your containers or jar lids over time. If this happens, soak the affected part in a bicarb soda and water solution for about 2 hours, which should lift most staining.
Containers of the same size will stack neatly on top of each other, with or without the lid on. They won't nest inside one another, though — that's a feature specific to ranges like our Stainless Steel Mixing Bowls or Tufferware Trio, not the glass range.
Yes, our Glass Food Containers can go in the air fryer — just stay within the same temperature-safe range covered in the Care Guide.
Replacement lids
In the name of sustainability, we provide spare parts for as many products as possible — but replacement lids for the Glass Containers, and for our old-style eco-stows, aren't currently available on their own. Our Reusable Stretch Lids are worth checking out as an alternative for these containers, though not all sizes will fit.
Sticky labels
We do not offer label makers at this time but for glass and silicone items, we personally use oil based markers and chalk markers so if we want to change the labels, we can use lemon oil to remove them. For sticky name labels, we recommend checking out @little_label_co in IG.
