You may notice a $2 fuel surcharge added to your order at checkout from April 22.
We want to explain why this has been introduced, and how long it will be in place.
What’s changed?
Our delivery partners, Australia Post & Aramex, have introduced a temporary fuel surcharge of 12% on shipping costs due to rising fuel prices. This surcharge applies to all businesses using their service during this period.
Like most Australian e-commerce businesses, we rely on Australia Post & Aramex to deliver your orders. When their costs increase, that increase flows through to us and at the volumes we ship, absorbing a 12% levy across all orders isn't something we're able to do.
Why we’ve added a $2 fee
We have absorbed increases in shipping costs in the past. However, this temporary surcharge has created a meaningful increase in delivery costs across all orders.
To help cover part of this, we have introduced a flat $2 fuel surcharge.
We have chosen a flat fee to keep things simple and consistent, rather than adjusting shipping costs based on location or order size. We are still absorbing a portion of the increase ourselves.
Rather than quietly bake it into product prices or hide it in handling fees, we've chosen to be transparent. The $2 surcharge appears as its own line item in your cart so you know exactly what it is and why it's there.
How it appears at checkout
The $2 surcharge is itemised separately in your cart. This is to ensure full transparency around why the charge has been added.
How long will this be in place?
This is a temporary measure.
As soon as Australia Post & Aramex remove their fuel surcharge, we will remove ours.
We are monitoring this closely and will revert back as soon as possible.
