What are the boards made of?
Wood Fibre boards are 80% compressed pine and 20% food-grade resin, and FSC certified. The resin is technically a type of plastic, so they aren't 100% plastic-free, but they're a real step up from a fully polyethylene or polypropylene board. They're coloured with a 100% safe, food-grade dye; only Wood Fibre boards come in colours.
Titanium boards are built to last. Light scratches and marks over time are normal with regular use and aren't a fault.
How do I care for my board?
Wood Fibre: dishwasher safe and maintenance-free. At 6mm thick, they store easily. You can also use them as a trivet under hot pots, pans or trays.
Titanium: wash before first use. Hand washing is recommended, though it's dishwasher safe. Rinse promptly after acidic foods, and don't leave acidic juice on the surface for more than about 10 minutes. Dry fully before storing.
Can I use the boards for raw meat and chicken?
Yes. Wood Fibre boards have a non-porous surface that resists moisture and bacteria and reduces cross-contamination. Wash the board and utensils thoroughly after raw meat or chicken. A separate board for raw meat isn't strictly necessary, though some people prefer one.
My board slips. How do I stop it moving?
Grip depends mostly on the surface underneath. Put a Hemp Tea Towel or damp kitchen towel under the board. For Wood Fibre boards, our Anti Slip Chopping Board Corners fit snugly to stop the board moving; they don't fit Titanium boards.
